Welcome to Life look around

Have you found all the things to be found?

Sometimes everything’s so loud

Bees buzzing over crowded

Look at your life what’s it worth?

Why were we put here on earth?

Sometimes everything’s unglued

We just need rejuvenation

At the Rancho Relaxo, baby

Plan to spend some time and see

What life’s supposed to be

Rancho Relaxo, darling

Relax your mind.

You just need time to sit and think

While they bring you umbrella drinks

And then soon it all makes sense

Can you feel the tension leaving

At the Rancho Relaxo, baby

Plan to spend some time and see

What life’s supposed to be

Rancho Relaxo, darling

Relax your mind.

Living so frustrated, living as a lie, sometimes’ we feel so alone

Living in a lifeboat, it’s 3 by 17, but it’s all we’ve ever known

When the sun comes shining down we’re gonna find it now

Make it happen

Mental destination, staring to the sky

At the Rancho Relaxo, baby

Plan to spend some time and see

What life’s supposed to be

Rancho Relaxo, darling

Never know what you will find when you leave the past behind

At the Rancho Relaxo, baby

Plan to spend some time and see

What life’s supposed to be

Thirst  - Michael B. Crittenden

The water is weighting down my breath

And I couldn’t seem to squeeze out

the right words

A sleepy head upon a breast

Won’t you hold me, cuz I’m still here

Why won’t you tell me what I’m thinking?

Cuz I need to know

Walking through the garden

Will you look at all the colors bursting

And I’m still thirsting for you

The water’s slippin past my shoes

Well my feet could do without the sentimental soaking

Shade of green and crystal blue

It’s such a beautiful thing

Gonna pour myself into you

Why won’t you tell me what I’m thinking?

Cuz I need to know

Walking through the garden

Will you look at all the colors bursting

And I’m still thirsting

Will you meet me in the morning

Is this my last warning?

I’m still thirsting for you.

27 Hour Date  - Michael B. Crittenden

We went out at 10

Didn’t plan to get drunk again

Remember this is a week night

So please no green beer

Started out so nice

With shish-kabob and rice

I’ll have you home near eleven

Just a short adventure

But we went back to my place

Then the sun was rising

Suddenly it was tomorrow

27 Hours

Wondering where the time has gone

27 hours, we were feeling great

On this 27 Hour date

We got up at six

What a good time to call in sick

Remember this is a Tuesday and you’re still here

We’ve got the whole day ahead but I start to fear

Are we digging each other?

Are we wasting time?

You’re sort of selfish and rude

but you look so fine

I should’ve taken you home way before we came this far

Then we were sitting high above the river

And I kissed you like a dumb ass

27 Hours

I can’t believe I kissed you

27 Hours and it’s getting late

27 Hours and I still can’t believe I kissed you

27 Hours and it’s getting late

For this 27 hour date

We were finally driving home more than a day was gone

My boss is surely pissed

27 Hours

I can’t believe it went on so long

27 Hours – so let’s get this straight

No more 27 hour dates

27 hours down the drain

I can’t believe it went on so long

27 hours down the drain

I can’t believe it went on

so long

So long, Baby

She was worried, she wasn't able

To give him what he needs

Spent half her life, raising children

Now they don't come around

There comes a time in all our lives

When we don't think we belong anymore

He would've been gone many years ago

All he ever wanted was a few good friends

live a simple life

And all he ever needed

was to see you smile

back at him

He was worried, he wasn't able

To give her what she needs

Lost his will

Dealing time for pay

The dream ain't what it seems

There comes a time in all our lives

When we don't think we belong anymore

She would've been gone many years ago

All she ever wanted was a few good friends

live a simple life

And all she ever needed

was to see you smile

See you smile

If I care for you

Would you care for me too?

There comes a time in all our lives

When we don't think we belong anymore

I would've been gone many years ago

All I ever wanted was a few good friends

live a simple life

all I ever needed

was to see you smile

back at me

Would you smile for me?

Bombs Away - Michael B. Crittenden/Jimmy. LeValley

Bombs away

Lose the day

Interupt

Messed me up

We’re looking forward

And we’re looking back

This is your life

You can be sure so you shouldn’t have to ask

Where is the moment?

Take a shot

Things we’re not

We’re looking forward

And we’re looking back

This is your life

You can be sure so you shouldn’t have to ask

Where is the moment?

Twist my arm, static charm, nothing lasts

Comb you hair, sit and stare, smear the past

Wasted mind doing time

Things we choose

We blew off work cuz the sky was so beautiful

Headed north for a three hour drive

You cracked a beer, then you put some music on

You looked at me and I was Real, Real Gone

In a flash we were drifting down the river

With the paddles bangin, water splashin

Ice meltin in the cooler, feeling like an Aztec ruler

Sun is shining, all around us

Music’s blaring from a boom box

Bottom scraping on the big rocks

I never thought that I would meet someone like you

Welcome to my canoe

Drifting down the river, it’s a bit beguiling

Blue water colors reflecting in your eyes

I’ve never met a girl who likes to drink like you do

You’re just like me in that respect, some sort of voodoo

And we’re drifting down the river

With the paddles bangin, water splashin

Ice meltin in the cooler, feeling like an Aztec ruler

Sun is shining, all around us

Music’s blaring from a boom box

Bottom scraping on the big rocks

I never thought that I would meet someone like you

Welcome to my canoe

Well, I’m doing all the work, but I don’t mind because she’s beautiful

Sitting in the back, I gotta steer but I’ve got quite the view

The deer along the bank are kinda cute, but they’re not good kissers

Don’t quite compare to the one who sits in front of me now

And we’re drifting down the river

With the paddles bangin, water splashin

Ice meltin in the cooler, feeling like an Aztec ruler

Sun is shining, all around us

Music’s blaring from a boom box

Bottom scraping on the big rocks

I never thought that I would meet someone like you

Welcome to my canoe

I’m gonna kiss you and I’ll do it, too.

Right here....in my canoe

Happy Too Much  - Michael B. Crittenden

You remember when you used to smile

Waking up in your head

Get out of bed

Walk a thousand miles

You remember when you were in school

Still smoking cigarettes

Plug your ears…..you know it’s so cool

You can try to rig the lottery

But all we really want is to be happy

Is that too much to ask for?

You keep thinking that she’s coming back to life

Three years pass in your head

Still save your bed

For his lovely wife

You can try to rig the lottery

But all we really want is to be happy

Is that too much to ask for?

Doors are for those who want to leave

Windows are for thinkers

And clocks are for those who don’t believe

You can try to rig the lottery

You can make excuses to yourself

And you can put your problems on the shelf

You can say that nothing comes for free

But isn’t what we want to be happy

Is that too much to ask for?

Happy Happy

Happy Dreamer

Happy Drunkard

Happy Believer

Saturdays are all the same

But the last one in April seems so damn far away

Sit inside, watch it snow, wishing I was home

This office that I live in feels so dead

And the phones and files and faxes leave an aching in my head

Need to find my space, need to leave this place

And get back where I belong

Back to the river, let it wash into my soul

Gonna feel it flow

Back to the river, I’m going home

I’ve got a brand new 5 weight underneath my bed

And a trusty pair of waders hanging in the shed

Spreading all my fishing stuff out on the basement floor

We’ll have to buy a bigger house if I bring home any more

No, we don’t mind the winter, it’s kind of nice to fish in fleece

Usually we wish we had a shotgun for the geese

I could stay at home with my love and drink some wine

But chipping ice out of eyelets is my idea of a good time

Back to the river, let it wash into my soul

Gonna feel it flow

Back to the river, I’m going home

Now go to sleep you fishermen, dream of brookies rising

Hemingway’s Two Heart was just the Fox to our surprising

One thing that I try to understand, figure out

Why I get so excited by a six-inch rainbow trout

Back to the river, let it wash into my soul

Gonna feel it flow

Back to the river, I’m going home

With the rods and cases, duns and daces

Line and backing, mosquito attacking

Whiskey and waders, canoe haters

Double haul, my love is calling me

She says “Come on home, won’t you come on home”

And I try to explain that I am already there

One of these days she’ll get smart and move up here with me.

Icicle - Michael B. Crittenden/Barton Wolman

I am frozen

I’m an icicle

Stuck above your doorway

Not much to do waiting here for you

But watch the world go by from the corner of my eye

Melting in a watercolor sky

I melt right into yesterday

Please let me in and I’ll be fine

Don’t stand beneath me, I’m dangerous

And I could break and fall at anytime

But You’re not concerned

If anything, I’ve learned

You’re the queen of content

And I’m the master of dreaming

Cuz I’ve been frozen here for 3 months now

Waiting patiently for spring to come

And every now and then  you tease me

When you press your lips upon the windowpane

Then you’re gone

I dream on

Melting in a watercolor sky

I melt right into yesterday

Please let me in

New Blood  - Michael B. Crittenden

Drawn in

Take the bait

It’s time to rejuvenate

Put some oxygen into my lungs

Gonna step outside and breathe it

This is the real thing

No imitation

No simulation

Can’t you feel it running through you now?

Well I used to be stuck in the mud

She said….

I’ve got the new blood

Running through me

Hear it singing

This is the new blood

Gonna let it happen

She said

I gotta move

Gonna graduate

Gonna fly

Gonna gravitate

I’ll be dancing deep into my soul

Come with me

Just think of it as education

And you can take off all your chains and sweat

Well I used to be stuck in the mud

She said….

I’ve got the new blood

Running through me

Hear it singing

This is the new blood

Gonna let it happen

Jessie was a preppy girl

Her big concern was of her hair

She moved to Maine then Michigan

And probably elsewhere, but I don’t care

Sally came onto the scene

Thought I finally got it right

But then she tried our furniture

With different guys most every night

Tell me why can’t I get it right?

Didi drank a lot of beer

You could taste the marijuana kiss

She took my money all the time

And I’m a bit too old for this

Then Debbie drove me home from work

We stopped and had a drink of gin

She stole my leather jacket quick

And now I hear she’s in the looney bin

Tell me why can’t I get it right?

Heather knew exactly what she wanted

It was just one thing

But I just couldn’t give it to her

When I saw her wedding ring

Tell me why can’t I get it right?

Out of Phase  - Michael Crittenden

I can remember when

You said we’d meet again

Then you walked out the door

I became friends with my fear

Was almost free & clear

Then you turned around and came back for more

Don’t make me phase you out again

Cuz I can’t take the thought of you

Strictly as a friend

I still remember when

We said we’d try again

As we laid the cards on the counter

It’s just human nature

To give yourself to someone

And trust that they’ll be good to your soul

Why does it seem to be just a habit

of hurting each other?

tell you how I feel and you just don’t believe

I still remember when we were lost

in the forest

in each other, nothing mattered, nothing mattered anymore

So don’t make me phase you out again

Cuz I’m not just another one of your friends

We’ve been on this ride before, I swore

Never again

Hearts and bones aren’t made of stone
